A coin fuelled robot emphasising the playful and engaging support of charities.

Each donation received not only powers DON-8r for a short time but also goes directly towards supporting an affiliated charity.

DON-8r began its life as a project exploring Gamification (See NeON Knights). This research influenced experimentation with objects that apply playful feedback as a means to encourage repetitive interaction – in this case the donation of a coin.

DON-8r plays upon our curiosity and empathy in order to draw in passers-by. This is a response to the increasingly negative attitudes people have towards on-the-street charity workers (or ‘chuggers’ as they have become commonly known).

Designed to be re-branded to suit different charities, DON-8r provides a unique platform for charities to engage with members of the public in a fun and memorable manner.
