Meet DON-8r, a cash collecting robot traversing the great outdoors! Here is the culmination of PLAY, my concept design based around the tech prototypes I have been playing with over the past couple of months.
I have to say that I am relieved I have finally produced an impression of the aesthetics as this is something I have been stressing over for a while. While creating this I went through a few engineering styles to allow me to understand how it could all work:
I have opted to go for a three wheel design with the front two wheels driving the robot and a trolley wheel at the rear stabalising it. Although this fits with my current model, in hindsight having a single rear wheel may cause some instability, especially as it is designed to bump into things. I aim to resolve this as soon as possible and asses whether this is an issue.
Next up is MAKE with some detailed designing due to define some materials, manufacture process and assembling.
