A QR code treasure hunt through the streets of Dundee
QR codes hidden upon posters spread across the city
Co-designed alongside Jon Gill (graphics and illustration)
and Rick Curran (web application)
Exploring gamification through connecting digital games
to physical interactions within urban environments
Player enters the game by scanning any QR code. This prompts the player to sign-up and enter a username which is then stored. Each QR code, whether around town, on a flyer or hidden elsewhere, has a specific point value. As player embarks on their hunt, the online leaderboard updates as points are accumulated.
The player must be vigilant though as some codes have multiple scan restrictions on them while others may deduct points from you!
